Microsoft 之前一直盛傳有一個開發摺機的計劃，定位介乎智能電話與平板電腦之間。後來被指計劃已取消，但最近卻有新消息透露這計劃將以另一形式重現。
代號 Andromeda 的 Microsoft 摺機，已經盛傳了好幾年，但繼 Microsoft 放棄手機版 Windows 系統後，已經沒有什麼新消息。最近有開發者再次提到相關消息時，確認了原有的 Andromeda 開發計劃已經不再，不過 Microsoft 方面正在等候時機推出代號為 Windows Lite 的新系統，屆時就會使用這新系統再次開發摺機。

據消息指，這 Windows Lite 系統不是簡化版的 Windows，而是重新開發的輕量化系統，甚至不會稱為 Windows，而其使用體驗會類似 ChromeOS，重點透過網頁 apps 提供各種功能，但亦會支援 Windows 軟件。
